CyberCrunch® Frequently Asked Questions
Get Answers to Your Questions About Electronics Recycling and Data Destruction

Pricing and Service Information
How much does your service cost?
CyberCrunch® has a minimum invoice price of $500. Please contact us for a free quote. Please note that residential service is no longer available.
Why do you charge?
Responsible recycling isn’t free. Electronics contain lead, mercury, and other toxins. The cost to responsibly recycle electronics far exceeds the precious metal recovery costs. At CyberCrunch®, we prioritize data security and take measures to ensure that all data is securely destroyed. Companies offering free recycling often do not have the same level of data security and may put your sensitive information at risk. To learn more about the dangers of free computer recycling, please visit our blog.
What items do you accept?
Our company accepts a wide variety of electronic items for recycling. For a complete list of commonly accepted items, please visit our electronics recycling page. If you have an item that is not on the list, please contact us to see if we can accept it.
Can you buy my e-waste?
Unfortunately, we do not purchase e-waste. However, we do buy bulk (50+ units) laptops, tablets, desktops, and cell phones that are 3 years old or newer from our business customers. To learn more about our ITAD services, visit our ITAD services page.
Do you accept TVs?
CyberCrunch® accepts TVs from commercial customers only. Residential customers should contact their local municipality. Commercial customers can contact us for a free quote. For a complete list of items we accept from commercial customers, please visit our accepted items list
Can I drop off my equipment at your location?
Commercial drop-offs are welcome by appointment only.
Can you pick up at my home?
Sorry, CyberCrunch® does not provide residential services. Please contact your local municipality.
Data Destruction
What happens to the data?
At CyberCrunch, we take data security very seriously. All hard drives are wiped, shredded or magnetically degaussed to ensure that your sensitive information is completely destroyed. If your business has specific data destruction needs, please contact us for more information.
Do you comply with HIPAA regulations?
Yes, we have HIPAA compliant data destruction services. Simply contact us for a free quote.
How does your data destruction process work?
CyberCrunch® uses a multi-step process to ensure all data is destroyed. We start with wiping the hard drive using Department of Defense and National Institute of Standards and Technology guidelines. If the drive cannot be wiped, we physically destroy it using our state-of-the-art shredder or pulverizer. Our pulverizer grinds the hard drive down to 2mm particles, ensuring complete data destruction. We can also provide on-site data destruction services for an additional fee. Contact us for more information.
Environmental Responsibility
Why is responsible e-waste management important?
Responsible e-waste management is important because electronics can contain hazardous materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and other toxic substances that can be harmful to human health and the environment. These materials can contaminate the soil and water if not disposed of properly, leading to health and environmental risks. Additionally, improper disposal of electronics can result in data breaches, as sensitive information may still be present on the devices. By responsibly recycling electronics, businesses can protect both their data and the environment.
What are the risks of improper disposal?
Improper disposal of e-waste can have various risks, such as environmental pollution, health hazards, and data security breaches. When electronics are not disposed of properly, they can release hazardous chemicals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium into the environment. These chemicals can pollute soil, air, and water, leading to health problems for people and wildlife. Additionally, improper disposal of electronics can result in sensitive information being leaked or stolen, leading to potential data breaches and identity theft. Proper e-waste management helps prevent these risks and ensures that electronics are recycled and disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
What is the impact on the environment?
Improper disposal of e-waste can have a significant impact on the environment. Electronic devices contain hazardous materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and brominated flame retardants that can contaminate the soil and water. These materials can also release toxic fumes when burned or incinerated. Additionally, e-waste disposal contributes to the depletion of natural resources and increases greenhouse gas emissions. By responsibly recycling electronics, we can reduce the negative impact on the environment and protect our natural resources.
